Mariangela Gominho, soprano, is a singer and vocal pedagogue based in Boston,

Massachusetts. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from Duquesne University and her Master's degree in Vocal Pedagogy from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

During her undergraduate studies, she performed as Suor Genevieve in Suor

Angelica and covered the role of Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, as well as participated in

programs at the Franco American Vocal Academy and New England Conservatory’s Summer Opera Studio.

As a language lover, Mariangela has experience singing in various languages, from Portuguese to Tagalog to Icelandic. In 2016, she was the first music performance major to receive the prestigious Honors Endowed Fellows Grant at Duquesne University. With the grant, she studied Icelandic folk and classical music in Iceland and presented the pieces in a public lecture-recital.

In addition to her classical background, Mariangela is a well-versed jazz singer. With 10 years of tenor saxophone experience, she has translated that knowledge of improvisation and dexterity to the voice. She enjoys performing with other jazz musicians in the Boston and Providence area.

Mariangela is trained in classical piano, jazz piano, and organ. This versatility has assisted in accompanying voice lessons. In piano lessons, Mariangela focuses on the basics of music theory, technique, and repertoire appropriate for each student.

Her main goal as a teacher is to create a healthy foundation in singing in order to gain vocal freedom. In the teaching studio, Mariangela aims to create a playful and encouraging atmosphere to explore emotion and expression in music,  all while maintaining a healthy technique. She loves teaching students of all ages, levels, and genres.
